WHY SHOULD I STUDY FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES?
An international Food and Beverage Service qualification is for anyone working - or planning to work - in the catering industry, particularly if you want to work in a range of countries.
It is ideal for you if you are looking for your first job in the catering industry and you need to learn the basics. The Certificate programme provides a broad introduction to the theory and practical sides of food service, giving the necessary knowledge and practical experience to operate as a front line worker in a typical service outlet.
An internationally recognised qualification in Food and Beverage Service is recommended if you want a job in the catering industry in South Africa (and overseas). The following types are typical of this field:

The Level 1 Certificate in Food and Beverage Service is the third of three steps in the qualification structure for Food and Beverage Management. The three steps needed in order to obtain the Level 1 Certificate in Food and Beverage Service are:

Please Note:
Until further notice, all three courses are only available to students living in Gauteng, South Africa. For the Foundation level and Proficiency level courses, candidates must attend an assessment at an approved City and Guilds centre which is The HTA School of Culinary Art in Randburg, Gauteng. Similarly with Certificate course, students must write their exams at The HTA School of Culinary Art in Randburg, Gauteng (an approved City and Guilds exam centre).
