What is Forensic Biology & DNA?
The National Certificate Forensic Science: Forensic Biology & DNA refers to all aspects related to knowledge and understanding of biological examinations in a forensic science environment
Why Should I Study Forensic Biology & DNA? The National Certificate: Forensic Science: Forensic Biology & DNA is intended to provide fundamental knowledge of the probative value of forensic biological evidence that is collected, packaged and stored, and ultimately admissible to a court of law as evidence towards serving justice and to provide fundamental theoretical principles in physiology and molecular biology that form the basis of the techniques used in forensic biology examinations.

Course Duration
The National Certificate Forensic Science: Forensic Biology & DNA will take you between 12 and 24 months to complete
Entrance Requirements
To enrol for this qualification it is advisable to have passed Grade 12 or an NQF Level 4 Equivalent with the following subjects:
- Mathematics at NQF level 4.
- Communication at NQF level 4.
- Physical science at NQF level 4.
It is important to note that learners without a clear understanding of Mathematics and Science might find it difficult to successfully complete this qualification. Learners with certain physical disabilities, such as colour blindness, may not be able to successfully complete this qualification. This is due to the fact that some of the forensic science techniques that learners will have to master require that the learner be able to make distinction between different colours.
Assessment and Award
Once you have completed and were found competent in the outcomes of the prescribed assignments, SASSETA will also award you with a statement of results for the unit standards you have completed. Your details will be loaded onto the National Learner Record Database (NLRD).
