The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB)
The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) is a Professional Institute and a Quality Assurance Partner (QAP) of the Finance and Accounting Sector Education and Training Authoring (Fasset). All the ICB qualifications are South African-based and are registered on the South African National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
College SA offers three Professional Qualification programmes in conjunction with the ICB:
- The Accounting Certification Programme
- The Business Financial Management Certification Programme
- The Office Management Certification Programme
- The Accounting Certification Programme
The Accounting Certification Programme will take you through 12 learning areas (or subjects) and successive levels of bookkeeping and accounting. With the Accounting Certification Programme, you can progress from a Certified Junior Bookkeeper up to a Certified Financial Accountant.
The Accounting Certification Programme consists of the following qualifications:
- National Certificate: Junior Bookkeeper (NQF Level 3, SAQA ID 58375)
- National FET Certificate: Senior Bookkeeper (NQF Level 4, SAQA ID 58376)
- National Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting (NQF Level 5, SAQA ID 36213)
- National Diploma: Certified Financial Accounting (NQF Level 6, SAQA ID 20366)

- The Business Financial Management Certification Programme
The Business Financial Management Certification Programme will take you through 3 learning areas (or subjects) that will lead to you becoming a Certified Small Business Manager.
The Business Financial Management Certification Programme consists of the following qualification:
- National Certificate: Small Business Financial Management (NQF Level 4, SAQA ID 48736)

- The Office Management Certification Programme
The Office Management Certification Programme will take you through 12 learning areas (or subjects) and with it you will be able to move up from a Certified Junior Office Administrator to a Certified Office Manager.
The Office Management Certification Programme consists of the following qualifications:

- National Higher Certificate: Office Administration (NQF Level 5, SAQA ID 23619)

The Institute of Business Studies (IBS)
The Institute of Business Studies (IBS) is an affiliate of the South African branch of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries Southern Africa (CSSA), and therefore all the IBS qualifications are also accredited by Fasset. The programmes offered by the IBS serve as a stepping stone to more advanced CSSA courses.
All the IBS will assist you in gaining business experience, and they provide training in commercial, legal and general accounting. These business qualifications are highly recognised in the corporate world, so if you have not obtained formal school qualifications but wish to enter the world of commerce and industry, an IBS qualification will pave your way to success.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is a global Professional Body for accountants. At the moment, there are two Study Programmes from which to choose – The CAT Qualification and the ACCA Qualification. Please note that The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is currently restructuring its programmes and will be offering a new study programme in 2011 – Foundations in Accountancy.

Important ACCA Information:
Please note, in order to successfully achieve the ACCA qualification, you have to do more than just pass the exams. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) have specified that students have to complete a certain amount of practical work experience. Becoming an ACCA-qualified accountant does not just involve passing your exams and the professional ethics module, you also need to complete the Practical Experience Requirement (PER). Please note, the Practical Experience Requirement is COMPULSORY.
