The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (CSSA): More about them
The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (CSSA) is the leading global professional body for company secretaries and senior administrators, and its affiliate, Chartered Secretaries South Africa, is the formal institute for governance and accounting officers in Southern Africa. The role of chartered secretaries and administrators is to ensure that their company's performance is profitable and that they respond to circumstances in a timeous, appropriate, efficient and well-organised manner. They need to be adaptable, keep abreast of developments, and have an alert mind to maintain effectiveness, and CSSA has an established reputation of delivering individuals that possess these skills.
CSSA has been accredited as a Quality Assurance Partner of Fasset (accreditation number: QAP9) and in turn accredited College SA as a training provider. Obtaining a highly recognised CSSA qualification from College SA would certainly distinguish a prospective chartered secretary from other applicants.

Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Adminstrators (CSSA): Programmes
The programmes offered through the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (CSSA) offer a good balance between basic accounting and knowledge of the concepts, theories and laws behind business practices. The CSSA programme is perfect for anybody who is interested in becoming a Company Secretary.
The purpose of the CSSA programmes is to provide the student with an understanding of the operational environment in which management and administration personnel perform their duties, as well as a variety of clerical skills. In this way, students would be able to understand the importance of proper governance while performing tasks such as filling out tax returns and interpreting a balance sheet. In general, these programmes focus on both the financial and the managerial side of business - the perfect balance between pure accounting and pure management.
A wide variety of outcomes are incorporated into the CIS qualifications, which range between theoretical knowledge and practical experience. These include management principles, the foundations of law, taxation, communication, economics, financial accounting, managing IT, etc
