Course Details Summary:
What is Sport Management?Sport Management is a broad term that covers a wide range of aspects, from the actual coaching or physical participation in sport to the administrative tasks involved behind the scenes. Students would not only gain experience in practical sports training but also in organising and administering events, marketing and finance management, customer care and team management, and screening and dealing with special needs. By obtaining a qualification in this field, students would therefore learn more not only about the scientific side of sports and fitness but also about the managerial skills one needs when planning and conducting sports or recreational activities. Furthermore, eta allows students to choose certain specialisation modules to develop additional skills that could be to their advantage when entering the fitness industry. The eta National Diploma: Sport Management builds on the knowledge obtained in the eta National Certificate: Sport Management, which means that at Diploma Level, the content is much more focused and goes into more detail than at Certificate Level. Closer attention is given to the identification of talented sportsmen and women, the legal aspects related to sports and athlete management, as well as leadership and proper public relations. At first year level students can also choose to specialise in the planning of sporting events, while at second year level they can specialise in sport tourism itself. Why should I study Sport Management? The vast job opportunities within the field of Sports and Fitness make this qualification a very sought after programme. It would allow you entry into schools, sport clubs, private institutions, the fitness industry and even your own business, as the possibilities in Sport Management are endless. Whether you prefer working on the sport field itself by coaching teams and being involved in physical activities or prefer to be involved in the managerial side of things such as organising tournaments and sport related events, a qualification in Sport Management would give you insight into all these related aspects. Assessment and AwardOnce you have successfully completed the necessary assignments prescribed by College SA, you may apply to write the examinations with the eta. Upon successful completion of your exams, you will be awarded with the National Diploma – Sport Management. After each successfully completed subject, students can contact the College to receive a Subject Completion Certificate. Important Exam InformationDistance learning students follow a different exam procedure than full or part time students, as exams are not written in a classroom but rather online. How does this work? Well, whenever you are ready to write your exam, you simply send an email to the eta to request the paper. As soon as the eta receives your request, they will send you the exam paper electronically. The eta is automatically notified once you have received the paper, so a timer would be activated. You must then complete the question paper and send it back within 12 hours of receipt. The question paper would only take you approximately 2 hours to complete, but we will allow you extra time to make sure that you filled in everything. If you do not send the completed exam paper back within 12 hours after receiving it, the paper becomes invalid. You have then missed the deadline and would only have one other opportunity for reassessment. PLEASE NOTE: You can only request papers between Monday and Friday and at all times you need to return it within 12 hours after receiving it. The eta also needs at least 24 hours written notice before they can send you the question paper, so you need to request it at least a day or two before you wish to write the exam.
