Don’t have Matric? Can’t Study? Think again!

At College SA, we offer distance learning courses in a wide range of study areas that are open to students who have not obtained their Matric Certificates.

Our Student Registrars are there to help you with choosing a course that you would like to study based on your academic level and career goals.

If you were in school recently, but did not reach matric, we suggest that you start with a course NQF level 3, or that you enrol for a short course or certificate programme. Once you have completed such a course, you could move on to NQF level 4 course, which would be at the same level as a matric certificate.

You can have a look through our full list of courses to see which courses you may be eligible for, based on your age and/or work experience.

The courses listed above are provided as suggestions only, and do not represent the full list of courses that you may be able to study. You should also note that it is your responsibility to make sure that you meet all of the relevant admission criteria for a particular course.

Did you know?

If you want to study towards a degree at university, you will need a Matric certificate. You will also need to make sure that you choose the right combination of subjects for university exemption, and that your marks are high enough to meet the university admission requirements. In addition to this, you will need to write (and pass) the relevant university entrance exams.

If you want to study at a college or other academic institution, you will not necessarily need to have a Matric certificate. The entry requirements for college courses vary, so you will have to do some research to find out about the different courses that are available, and what the entry requirements are.

Many colleges offer a variety of short courses, certificate courses and diploma courses that you can study without having completed Matric. Depending on your age and academic level, you might even be able to study a course that is equivalent to Matric (i.e. NQF level 4).

If you are over the age of 23, you may be granted exemption from some of the entry requirements for certain courses.
