| Helping You Study |
At College SA we know that most people are anxious about their studies. What are people anxious about? And, how do we help you and be by your side with your studies?
SOLUTION: At College SA we believe that studying is a skill that ALL people are capable of mastering. Nobody is incapable of studying! We know that most of our students have not studied for many years (since their school days). We also know that most of our students come to us with untrue assumptions and bad habits when it comes to how to study. We believe that studying is a skill – like learning how to swim or learning how to read – and we will make sure that the very first thing you do with us is that you will learn this skill. In other words, we start off your studies by teaching you HOW to study. No matter what course you register for, you will start off with a compulsory Module called Tactics for Winning. This compulsory Module will re-introduce you to studying – the College SA way!!! Tactics for Winning will give you all the information and motivation that you need in order to learn or re-learn the skill of studying. Basically, we make sure that you know all about how to study. It’s a fun and dynamic Module and we know that it will quickly get you into a studying frame of mind! Let me just repeat one more time... At College SA we believe that studying is a skill that ALL people are capable of mastering. Nobody is incapable of studying!
SOLUTION: As educational experts, we know – without a doubt – that a person’s school results have absolutely NO link to how they will do when and if they choose to further their studies. Very few of us did well at school. School is a system in which only a few are seen to be ‘successful’. For most of us, our school days were not our best days. Did you know that 78% of people who go to school NEVER get a Matric Certificate? At school, we were forced to study all sorts of subjects that didn’t really interest us. But, as an adult, when you decide to further your studies, you choose to study subjects that really interest you. For example, at school you may have done really badly in History because you had absolutely no interest in the subject – you were just forced to do it. But when you register with us, you get to study your ‘dream (ideal) subjects’. YOU get to choose what YOU want to study based on YOUR needs and interests. And when you study something that interests you, you will certainly be successful. When your mind and your heart are with you on your studies, then it’s natural that you are going to get fantastic results. College SA has a wide range of courses – we are confident that you will find your ‘dream course’ amongst them! We have everything from Business, to Creative, to Computer, to Policing courses ... and MORE.
SOLUTION: At College SA we are specialists in Home Study or Distance Learning. We are very aware that most people have only ever experienced face-to-face education. Thus, we know that we have a lot of explaining to do when it comes to Home Study or Distance Learning. And, we make sure that we explain everything to you – CLEARLY – right from the very beginning. The first compulsory Module, Tactics for Winning, goes into great detail to explain to you more about Home Study and what you can expect as a Home Study student. As Home Study experts, we know that you need to work with Study Material that has been written specifically for Home Study students. We carefully select our authors to make sure that they produce excellent quality Study Material that is tailor-made for our Home Study students. Thus, our Study Material:
We also know that our students sometimes need expert advice. That’s why we have a team of Tutors who will be able to answer any of your questions or concerns. Our Tutors:
We also have MORE WAYS that we HELP YOU with your studies:1. We keep in contact with you regularly to see how you are doing. We consider our Students to be our good friends. We will check with you to see if you have received your Study Material and we will make sure that you received everything that you were supposed to. You can be assured that you will hear from us because we care about you. You will not be left alone with your studies. That’s a promise! 2. We make sure that it is easy for you to contact us. The people who work in the Student Support Division are friendly, helpful and eager to assist. 3. We send you Newsletters written by the College Principal – these Newsletters always contain interesting bits of information and advice when it comes to studying. I am honoured to be the Principal of such a wonderful College. I believe that being your Principal means that I actually work for YOU. I am not just a name at the end of this letter. I am person that wants to stay in touch with my Students. All my Students know that they can email me at any time – This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Also, I like to contact my Students in the form of Student Newsletters. I personally write these Newsletters just for my Students. In these Newsletters I try to give you study tips and advice, as well as any important bits of information that I think you need to know about. 4. Whenever you submit an Assignment to the College, we always return it to you with helpful and friendly feedback. At College SA we believe that the purpose of Assignments is to give you an opportunity to put your new knowledge to practice. The Assignments are there for you to see for yourself just how well you have understood the Study Material. We ask you to submit these Assignments not because we want to give you extra work, but because we want to be part of your studies. With your Assignments, we can see how you are progressing and also if you need any additional assistance. We take the marking of your Assignments very seriously. We don’t just put ticks or crosses next to your answers. We believe that marking your Assignments means much more than just telling you if you got a question wrong or right. When you receive your Assignments back from us, you will see that you will have lots of comments from us. We like to write on your Assignments and give you some suggestions. If necessary, we will explain something or we will help you to understand something better. With College SA, we don’t use computers to mark your Assignments – the marking is done by professional and caring Tutors who look forward to giving you valuable feedback. 5. We help you to pace your studies. You already know that with our College you will do Distance or Home Study. As a Home Study Student, you have a lot of control when it comes to your studies. But, at the end of the day, we know that Students need all the help and assistance that they can get. Just because you won’t have a teacher standing in front of you does NOT mean that you won’t have expert guidance. We have already told you that our Study Material is easy to understand, exciting and motivational. But what we have not yet told you is that the College carefully paces your studies. What does this mean? By pacing your studies, we ensure that you get the right amount of study material at a time – ensuring that you have enough to keep you busy and excited, but not too much that you will feel stressed and overwhelmed. It is a College policy that you can only receive your next batch of Study Material once you have submitted your Assignments for your current Subject. Why do we do this? 1) You see, we want you to focus on one Subject at a time per course you are studying. The batch of Study Material that you receive is what you need to give your full attention to. We want you to work through the Study Material carefully and systematically – making sure that you understand what you are reading etc. With your batch of Study Material you are given all the information that you need and you are also provided with Assignments. These Assignments are created for you so that you can gauge your own progress. We encourage our Students to work through the Study Material and then to start the Assignments only when they feel adequately prepared to do so. Once you have completed your Assignments, you submit them to the College so that you can get expert feedback on how you are doing. What’s the point of moving onto the next subject if you are still having difficulties with the first subject? At College SA, we want you to feel that you are comfortable with the knowledge that you have learned before you begin with a new Subject. Studying is about progressing from simple to more complex information. Studying is a skill that requires us to master knowledge and skills one step at a time. As educational experts we know that pacing your studies is very important. We will guide you through your studies by ensuring that you have all the resources to progress from one level of knowledge to the next. An interesting example to think about is learning how to drive a car – it’s impossible to learn to how to drive a car before you have learned how to walk. At College SA, we will make sure that you know how to ‘walk’ before you start learning how to drive ‘a car’!!! 2) Another reason why we do NOT give you all your study material at once is because we don’t want Study Material to sit on your desk, gather dust and be forgotten about. I was also a student once, and I remember having all these books that just sat in the corner of my room and I never looked at them!! When we send you your next batch of Study Material we need to know that you are have completed one module or subject and that you are ready for the next one. By the time you have submitted your Assignments to us, you will be ready and excited for your next batch of Study Material. And, that is how we want you to feel about your studies – READY and EXCITED. 3) The College is responsible for providing you with Study Material that is the latest (newest) information on any subject. We don’t want to give you Study Material that is outdated or no longer relevant to your field of study. What does this actually mean? At College SA we are proud to let you know that we are constantly searching for new authors and new Study Material. We want to make sure that our Study Material is the most up-to-date information possible. We want you have Study Material that will benefit you in your career. We don’t want to give you Study Material that was written twenty years ago and that contains information that is old, boring and possibly no longer true. When we issue you with your next batch of Study Material we know that the Study Material we give you is the absolutely latest Study Material possible. It’s not uncommon for us to get new Study Material throughout the year. So, you may have registered with us in January, and by March we have new Study Material for you! Surely you want to receive the latest and most comprehensive Study Material? Of course you do. This would not be able to happen if you received all of your Study Material at once. Imagine if you got all your Study Material in January, but by March that year there was new Study Material ... this would mean that you would not have received the latest Study Material. You would be stuck with Study Material that is ‘old’! By giving you your Study Material one batch at a time, the College promises to provide you with the most up-to-date Study Material possible. We are responsible for ensuring that you get the best and latest Study Material. The only way that we can keep this promise is to give you one batch of Study Material at a time. This gives us the time necessary to make sure that we will be giving you Study Material that is relevant, new and suitable. We cannot keep this promise if we give you all of your Study Material at once. We want to keep our promise to you – that’s why you will only receive one batch of Study Material at a time. Does this sound like a College that really cares about it students? YES!!! |
