How can I study a College SA course in Botswana?

College SA offers distance learning or home study courses throughout Africa. With distance learning or home study, you can study a course at home or at work, without having to attend classes or to go to a campus to study. So this works in the same way as studying with a distance education provider like Unisa or BOCODOL.

Tell me more about how Distance Learning or Home Study with College SA works if I live in Botswana?

With Home Study in Botswana you don’t have to attend classes and you don’t have to give up your job. With College SA we send you your study material and then we help you complete your programme of study by contacting you regularly. You study at home and you do assignments that you send to the college for marking and positive feedback on how you did and how you could sometimes do even better!

So with Home Study you can study as fast or as slow as you want. You don’t compete with other students and you can study in the safety of your own home. Some of our students find that they actually do better when they are not distracted by travelling, classes and other students!

Here you will find just a few things that make College SA so special:

  • We are the only College that allows you to stop paying as soon as you have finished studying. This means that if you finish
  • studying before you had expected to finish, then you can stop paying when you are done. For example, if you register for a course that takes approximately 12 months to complete, but you manage to complete the course in 10 months, then you only pay for the 10 months, and not the final 2 months.
  • With College SA, you can study in the comfort of your own home from Study Material specifically written to include the notes a lecturer would have given you. We are a Distance Learning College which means that you study WHERE and WHEN you want to.
  • With College SA it is very easy to request your next batch of Study Material. This means that you will not have unreasonable delays and you can get through your Programme quickly and efficiently
  • With College SA, you can take a break from your studies and from paying us if you need to – without any penalties. For example, if something unforeseen occurs in your life, and you are no longer able to afford your monthly College fees, you can request to take a Study Break, and during that time you won’t have to pay the College.
  • Our Study Material is motivational and easy to understand. This means that you will enjoy working through your Study Programme and that you will look forward to receiving your next batch of Study Material.
  • All of our Students have access to friendly and caring Tutors. This means that if you have academic questions or concerns, you have your very own Tutor to help you. You will never be stuck and on your own – our Tutors look forward to providing any assistance to our Students. Our Tutors are experts in their fields and they are there to help you with any questions.

Do you want to register with a College that strives to be the best College ever? Are you looking for a College that treats you like a special friend rather than just a customer? Do you want to take the very first step in getting the education you need?

How are you going to pay for your Studies?

If you know that you need to improve your education, you are probably also wondering about how you are going to pay for your studies. See below for the different payment options that College SA offers its students in Botswana:

The Pay-As-You-Study Option

Pay a Registration fee and then pay a monthly instalment every month that you study.

The Pay-in-Advance Option

With this payment option, you make only one payment to the College and save at least 25% on the fees. With this option, you can use your credit card or your RCS card to pay for your fees.

Study loan option – African Bank

If you are considering applying for a Study Loan to pay for your studies, then College SA can help you. We can help you to apply for a Study Loan with African Bank, a bank that:
  • Says YES more often
  • Provides same day approval
  • Has fixed repayments
  • Provides a flexible choice of repayment terms

The benefit of getting a Study Loan to pay for your fees is that with the Study Loan, you can pay for your fees using the Pay-In-Advance method which will entitle you to savings up to 25%. In addition, with a Study Loan, you will be able to re-pay your loan over a longer period of time and thus have lower monthly instalments to pay (compared to paying the College every month for the duration of your studies).

Getting your Employer to help pay for your Studies

We at College SA are always trying to assist the people that cross our path; we always try to help fulfil those dreams. You need to make use of all the resources at your disposal in order to make your dreams come true. One such resource is your employer – no matter if you work for a small business, a big corporate or a one-man show.

Why ask your employer?

Advantages for your employer should you study:
  • Your employer gets an employee who is actively interested in his or her company;
  • Knowledgeable employees work smarter and more cost-effectively;
  • Involved employees set a positive example to others;
  • Employers pay a Skills Levy anyway and thus they can claim it back.

Advantages for you if your company is paying:
  • You better yourself and increase your confidence;
  • Experience a feeling of gratification – your company pays!
  • Make work more enjoyable;
  • Experience a sense of achievement;
  • Broaden your horizon;
  • You are taking the lead – well done!!!

How to approach your employer
  • Read up on the policies regarding training;
  • Make inquiries with your company’s HR Department.

General Criteria from Companies regarding Training

Usually companies have more or less the same requirements:
  • The training should be relevant to your work situation;
  • Chat with your direct Manager about what kind of qualification would be appropriate for your job;

HINT: You might have noticed a need in your workplace which you might be able to address with some training. Thus you are showing interest in your work and displaying problem-solving skills.
  • Training should be through a reputable college
  • The qualification needs to be on a certain level – Ask your Course Expert for more information about this
  • Your employer needs to know the duration of the course; subjects and cost of the course - ask your Course Expert about these details
  • Sometimes there are deadlines with regards to submitting training requests – ask your HR Department about this;
  • Your employer will need a quote - Ask your Course Expert for more information about this

Motivate Your Request
  • Explain WHY you want to study – mention the advantages to your employer. Also, ask the Course Expert about the benefits of the course
  • Show that you have done the necessary research, for example, perhaps fill in the necessary information on this page of our website - http://www.collegesa.co.za/choosing-the-right-college-for-you.html - go to the bottom of the page and click the link to access the quick questionnaire and checklist.
  • Negotiate – ask what your employer wants in return. Perhaps you can work off the cost, or, pay the money back if they give you a loan. Perhaps ask them to give you a head-start by paying for the Registration Fee – this will also help you.
