What skills do you need for Bookkeeping and Accounting?

Accounting and bookkeeping are terms that are often used interchangeably, but they are actually quite different. Do you know what sets them apart? Well, let’s look into this a bit more.

Bookkeeping VS Accounting

Similarities

Differences

Bookkeeping and accounting are essential for the successful running of any business.

Accounting and bookkeeping are both financial tools used for the recording of business transactions.

In the smaller companies, one person can perform both the accounting and bookkeeping function.

In large companies and corporations they need a whole department of people to perform the accounting and bookkeeping tasks.

There are slight differences between accounting and bookkeeping and they are mainly technical.

Some say you should think of accounting as a giant sifter and of bookkeeping as the process of pouring the stuff into the sifter.

In other words, before you can become an accountant, you first need to master bookkeeping.
